How long does it take to paint a portrait?

That really depends on the size and detail that you want. Usually it takes up to 2-3 weeks for 1 portrait. However larger pieces can take longer. Each of my artworks is highly detailed and this takes many, many hours.

What materials do you use?

I exclusively use soft pastels and pastel pencils to create vibrant textures with vivid colours with intricate detail. Pastels allow me to layer colours and strokes multiple times, essential for achieving soft, fluffy textures in fur and feathers, as well as capturing the diverse range of colours and light reflections in eyes. I only use the highest quality materials in all my paintings to ensure your pet portraits endure. These include brands like Caran D’Ache, Carbothello, Derwent and Pitt Pastels as well ads Rembrandt soft Pastel sticks and Pan pastels. The pastels I use have excellent lightfastness, meaning they won’t fade easily over time. I only use professional quality acid-free pastel paper – Pastelmat and Canson Mi-Teints velvet.
