Karin Attewell is a Sydney based pet portrait artist.
Her journey began during Covid when she participated in weekly FaceTime drawing sessions with distant family members. What started as a fun activity quickly turned into a passion, reigniting her love for art that had been dormant since childhood. Now retired, she has found a renewed sense of purpose through her artwork.
After exploring various techniques through online workshops, Karin discovered her love for pastels. With their creamy texture and vibrant pigments, they enable her to create detailed, lifelike animal portraits—especially of cats, dogs, and birds.
Her artworks are meticulously crafted using soft pastels and pastel pencils. Each piece takes hours to complete, capturing intricate textures, colours, and light reflections, particularly in fur and eyes. She uses only the highest quality materials, ensuring her portraits endure, from lightfast pastels to professional-grade, acid-free paper.
Karin prides herself on working closely with her clients to ensure each portrait meets their vision. She ships her artwork across Australia and internationally, making her creations accessible to art lovers around the world.
